Steven V. Schaze & Co. handles bookkeeping, payroll, and sales tax so grocery stores and restaurants can focus on serving customers and growing. With 30+ years of experience, we keep your finances organized, compliant, and on track.
Most clients of Steven V. Schaze & Co. are experts at running a counter, a kitchen, or a property — not at chart of accounts or filing deadlines. That gap is exactly where the firm comes in.

Grocery, deli and hospitality margins, inventory quirks, and seasonal cash flow are handled by an advisor who has worked in these industries for 30 years.

Accurate, organized bookkeeping built around how your business operates so your financials stay current, reliable, and ready when you need them.

A system is built to match how the business actually runs, so the numbers stay accurate and ready — not reconstructed at tax time.

Payroll is set up correctly from day one — the right filings, the right schedule, and no surprises when a new hire or a busy season arrives.

A process is put in place to track what's owed automatically, so filing season becomes a formality — not a scramble through receipts.
30+ years of experience across food, retail and property businesses
Direct access to Steve — not a rotating cast of junior staff
An Enrolled Agent, licensed to represent clients directly before the IRS
A firm built around personal service, not billable-hour volume

Rather than trying to be everything to everyone, the firm focuses where its experience runs deepest.

Tip reporting, tight margins, seasonal staffing and cash flow that moves fast — we know the rhythm of the industry.

Inventory turnover, sales tax on mixed goods, thin margins — the exact terrain we've worked in for three decades.

From rental income to property transactions, we help owners keep the accounting as solid as the asset itself.
One of the most common problems the firm solves for clients: sales tax that's tracked by hand, reconstructed at filing time, and always a little stressful.

Steve started out working for his father, Vincent J. Schaze, while he was still a student at San Jose State University — learning the practice from the ground up. After years gaining experience at a variety of other firms, he came back to the family practice and took the reins in 2004.
Since then, he has run the firm himself, building it around the principle it started with: know each client's business as well as they do, and be the person who actually answers when they call.
